8th Grade Students
Do you want to test out of 9th grade courses?

Each year, our 8th grade students have the opportunity to test out of two of their 9th grade courses. Students must meet 2 of the 3 following criteria in order to qualify for testing out: have a 3.0 (B average) or higher in the subject area requested over the last four semesters, have a mastery or above on their last standardized test score in the subject area, or a recommendation from the teacher in the subject area requested.

Eligible students can request to test out of a maximum of two of the following courses: English 9, Social Studies 9, Math I, Math II (if currently enrolled in Math I-8), Earth and Space Science. In mid-January, students will be provided with a textbook (if applicable) and the WVCCRS standards for the course in order to study. Students will then take a test for the subject area(s) requested on April 1, 2021.

Applications are now available and must be completed by January 15, 2021. Applications should be completed online at  https://boe.jeff.k12.wv.us/families___students/students/testing_out_application
Please feel free to contact Judi Himelrick, School Counselor, with any questions at jhimelrick@k12.wv.us or at 304-535-3214.

This has been a very different and interesting school year for all of us.  As we continue to navigate through these times, the yearbook this year is also going to be done differently.  I am in need of your help to get the 2020-2021 yearbook complete.  I am asking for you to share pictures with me of our students, their activities outside of school, friend gatherings, and anything that is school appropriate displaying what active and tremendous students we have at HFMS.  You may upload the photos using the following eShare instructions.  Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions!  Mcarver@k12.wv.us

Parents, students and teachers have a few options for accessing eShare:
